Vietnamese Dong - Count it easily!

It is true that counting notes of Vietnamese Dong is one of the most confusing thing to travellers.

So hard to count Vietnamese dong when paying something
Here are some tips for you:

1. You need to know The list of Vietnamese dong:

You know, every note has 02 sides.

But according to our experience, just ignore the side which has complicate images.

You do not have to remember the images of note when counting cash.

Just look at the side having image of President Hochiminh and find the amount of note on this side. Easily! Right?

There are some notes which are not listed here: note of 1.000 Vietnamese dong; note of 500 Vietnamese dong.

2. How to count note for payment:

    Ignore "the thousand"

Because, expenses rarely are less than one thousand, so you should ignore 03 number zero.

For example; When you have a bill of 235.000 Vietnamese Dong (in words: Two hundred and      thirty five thousand Vietnamese dong). It seems to be a huge matter.
But when you ignore "the thousand", just "Two hundred and thirty five".

Then, look at your pocket and ignore "the thousand" of note, too. Note of 200.000 will become 200. Easily. Right

Actually, Vietnamese people also use that way to count notes. Amazing. Right

Just have enough Vietnamese Dong - Not too much.

To travel in Vietnam, of course, you need soem Vietnamese Dong because foreign currencies are used in Vietnam.

I recommend that you should plan your budget that you need, do not exchange too much Vietnamese Dong, keep your money on bank account safely.

The reasons are:
- Vietnamese Dong is not used widely outside Vietnam's territory.
- If you bring a lot of money, may be you will become a target of bad guys on road.

SO, how much cash should you need:

If you are travelling in Hanoi, budget for one day include:

- Hotel charge.
- Foods and drinks:
- Transportation.
- For souvenir.

Big and medium hotels accept Credit Card, so do not worry about Hotel charge.

You need cash to pay for meals, drinks, transportation and souvenir.
Cash for restaurants
One meal for one person in Hanoi is about: 100.000 Vietnamese Dong.
Souvenir is pretty expensive, so you need 300.000 Vietnamese Dong.

Total amount of one day's budget for one person in Hanoi: 600.000 Vietnamese Dong.
So bring maximum amount of: 1.000.000 Vietnamese Dong.
